Question Garner SP 5th Wheel Site?

 Does anyone have any recommendations on a great RV site at Garner SP?
I just came through that area this past weekend on my Harley and would like to take the family camping there next weekend with the 5th wheel.

Thanks for your time.

Re: Garner SP 5th Wheel Site?

This time of year you should be able to drive thorugh and select. This is the busiest State Park in Texas and in summers is packed.
Pull through and call back with a site # or some people make you drive back and register before setting up??
We always parked below the big hill in the summer "for the shade".

I was out riding that area myself in the fall. Went all through Junction and Leaky...Vanderpool etc. Still like Big Bend better for riding

Check out Lost Maples when you are in the area.

Re: Garner SP 5th Wheel Site?

Thanks for the quick reply Copuswalker. Obviously, we won't need any shade this time of year, but do you know of some sites that more "preferred" than others?

So, you ride also? I took a ride from Cibolo out to Leaky on Hwy 337 then back up to Kerrville taking 39 last Saturday. Next time I'll go a little further out to Camp Wood. I plan on taking the Big Bend trip this spring with a few buddies from Javelina H-D. I've taken by car a few years ago and enjoyed the scenery.

Thanks again.

I know the loop by the river is the most popular. It is always so crowded in the summer it looks like a refugee camp.....I mean evacuee??

Like I said I am sure you can drive through and make that perfect selection

We did see Camp Wood as well on the last trip. The road from Leakey to Vanderpool was fantastic. I got so excited I ended up leaving my buddy in the dust. I had pulled over and started smoking a cigar when he rolled up

In the spring they have a small rally. They say it is really neat. last time I rode to Big Bend I had a backpack and suitcase on the back of the bike. Had lots of people wondering what I was doing. I met up and hiked the Rancherias trail with my brother and a couple of others.
I don't think it gets any better then riding and hiking/camping...
