I seriously doubt you'll get anything of the sort here... as it's becoming way too commercialized.
North Padre Island (a.k.a., Padre Island National Seashore) is where you'll want to be for the solitude you seek.
I'm planning a trip for late November to several camping locations in Texas. I'll be coming into Texas from the East on I10. I was looking for a good place to set camp just over the state line and Galveston Island State Park seems like the most interesting. I then want to goto the Austin area and am thinking about the San Marcos river. After that I want to head to South Padre Island where I've camped before.
Is there something near the state line with better camping than Galveston Island State Park? Anything with Kayak worthy water?
I want to stay on the San Marcos River to Kayak and since I will bringing 2 Kayaks I'd like to maximize my river time. Where is a good place to primitive camp in this area? Is there a better place in South East TX for Kayaking?
I do want to end up at South Padre Island to enjoy some solitude. However, if we camp at Galveston Island I'd don't think I'd have to camp on another beach. Is there a better place to end this camping trip?
Is there a resource for for TX Kayaking? I have sit-on-top fishing Kayaks and would like to fish if possible.
Is late November a good time for these parks/TX camping? Are there still problems with flooding?
I browsed around on these forums a couple years ago and got valuable information about Padre Island, however my old login wouldn't work.
Thanks for any input you can provide!

November is a great time for camping in Tx, the summer heat is gone and most people don't think to go camping in Nov.. It is actually one of my fav. months to camp![]()
?
Excellent resources Hippy and happybooker1. Thanks! I'll take a look at them and decide.
What is the weather like in November? I lived in TX for almost a year but left in October.
If you end up camping at Galveston you can Kayak on the bay side and there is some great fishing in the cove's / inlets.
To Kayak the SanMarco's there is a place just south of Luling called Palmaro St. park. You can either go up or down the river from there. Also make sure to go into Luling and eat BBQ at City Market....Yuuuuummmmmyyyyy.
