Frio & Nueces River - what is that brown stuff floating on the river?

just got back from camping on the Nueces River and was wondering if anyone knows what that brown/green stuff that floats on the river is??? I have also noticed that on the Frio at Garner SP.

We got back yesterday. I noticed the brown stuff floating by too. It must be some type of moss. It didn't get us sick or anything, just looks like "you know what". It rained on us one day and had hit and miss showers the rest of the days. The water is down but it is still cold.
