I also wondered what this park would be like. I called and spoke to a man who had been a school teacher and this was his retirement job. He said it's a nice park. The
RV area is on the top of a plateau and has little if no shade, other that the covered tables. However, he said the tent area is in a valley which stays green longer, has trees and there is usually a nice breeze. He did suggest avoid swimming, it's just no really a good swimming lake. He did mention that they seem to have issues with the online reservations. Frequently it will list their park as full. He suggested to contact the park directly. I was thinking of spending a few days there between Dinosaur Valley and Caprock Canyon, on the way to Palo Duro. That might be a just a vision of a trip now with gas being so high. There is only so much they can tell you on a web site. Call and talk to someone.
