Arrow Colorado Bend State Park?

Hello! We're wondering about this park... how primitive is it? Does it only allow for TENT camping? What are the BATHROOMs like? Tell me they aren't just an outhouse-type potty (hole in the ground).

Wow. That was a search of this site that had links to the topic? You may try the search function on the side bar and type in clorado bend state park.
I know it has been discussed but is one of the few parks I have not tried.

Why do woman hate a hole in the ground

Thanks. I had already tried to search feature but when I got so many hits, I figured that I might get better luck with a specific question... also it might be quicker than me sitting in front of the computerf for a half an hour.

Typically, we women like to sit and get all comfy on the toilet, perhaps even read a book or whatever if we are at home. We don't like the idea of falling into a toilet hole filled with feces or having bugs swarming around our tushy while we defecate.

Maybe you should put your computer in the bathroom?

Keep looking I'm sure some of the folks that have been there will chime in. I really need to try it myself.

It was pretty primitive as I remember it from last year. They have electric hook ups but no water. The bathrooms are just the potty holes The site is an old fishermans camp and if you don't bring it it won't be there. The long ride into the park is hot and dusty and it is really quite primative.

Re: Colorado Bend State Park?

Of course, the more primitive and the longer the road in, the quieter the campsites will be at night. Justin and I have camped at Colorado Bend SP twice and loved both trips. We had a small group of fishmermen in a site near us on one 2-night trip, and never saw them -- they got up before we did, we were out hiking when they were back at camp snoozing and eating, and when we got back for dinner/evening, they were out for more fishin'. I think we might even have taken my Toyota Corolla out there once, though the ruts in the road are a hassle if its wet (4x4 recommended, in those instances).

Sadly, both times we didn't do the cave crawling or walking tours... there's a lot to see there, if one looks.

Re: Colorado Bend State Park?

I personally love this park, but I like to backpack and use the primitive sites. The park is quite rustic and primitive, but absolutely worth seeing. There are MANY little waterfalls and refreshing pools of jade green water, lots of wild life - the deer will almost walk up to you and armadillos are pretty common there too.

I haven't seen the caves yet, but I hear they are worth seeing. The Gorman Falls is gorgeous and a must see. We stayed in a camp site one night there. I think it was one of the walk-in sites, but it was a short walk from the car - just a little jaunt up the hill. The sites seemed fairly spread out too, so your neighbors aren't right on top of you. And one can always find a nice comfy spot in the woods (away from trails, food and water sources of course) accompanied with some trusty moon floss and take care of business - you don't have to use the compost potties if you don't wanna! (I have never had the pleasure of using one and plan on keeping it that way!)
