Lightbulb Coffee

I just went on a ten day camping trip up through Canada and back, and I wanted to share the joy of taking along a French Press to make coffee. I bought one at a flea market aand took it along thinking I'd try it out---eaasy, great coffee! We brought our favorite grind, just measured it into the pitcher, poured over some boiling water, pressed down the screen, and poured up the like-home brew. Best gear we brought and I got it for $3! Anybody else have a favorite back country item?

Re: Coffee

Got one, too. Had never had need of one and never thought about it until we started planning our up-coming trip to Rocky Mountain National Park (no "power"). Got a press and found that it did make very good coffee. About the only thing I don't like about it that it has no timer so my coffee isn't ready when I roll out of bed (dang, have I gotten spoiled oner the years:laugh: ). Maybe if I ask DW reeeeal nice like..... .

Happy Camping!

Re: Coffee

Grill and aluminum foil are my most used items.

We make cowboy coffee (boil water and dump in coffee, strain grounds through teeth).

I have a whole page of camping recipes on USAer.com if anyone is interested.
