Camping w/ young children

I hope I'm not the only one who worries about this... *LOL*

What do you do when your young ones need to go to the bathroom (#2) & you're aways from the bathrooms (if you're out hiking or wading in the rivers)??? When I was in Girl Scouts we had to carry around a coffee can with a lid. What do you do with your kids?

We have postponed camping until early Fall (so I'm sure I'll have lots more questions as I think of them)!!

Re: Camping w/ young children

We always check before, and if nature called we were lucky enough to have a porta potty close. One of the best things to have when we are tent or pop up camping.I think this helped speed up our sons potty training,he loves to use it.On our last trip to South Llano he would only use (his potty). But you do what you have to ,a can, swimmer diapers, even plastic Wally World bags.Make sure you just keep asking if they need to go,and make sure they are'nt making the happy potta face.Sorry that you want get to camp til fall ,we're off to Garner next week ,I just hope the weather will be good.

Re: Camping w/ young children

I have a porta-potty in my van! We don't leave home without it.

My husband just can't take the time off to take the camping trip that we want. But we'll be heading down to Canyon Lake twice this summer to my in-laws. Going to see the fireworks on the 4th at Canyon Lake. Last summer we went & it was an awesome show! The fireworks were right over our heads.

I don't know if you could get in on the forth of July but Potters Creek on Canyon Lake was a great camping area.It was one of the cleanest parks we have stayed at.And the fireworks show is a good one.
