Camping near Canyon Lake

Our plans have changed due to my husband having to work so much. We can't go to Mineral Wells in June. But we are going to spend July 4th weekend at my in-laws (who live between New Braunfels & Canyon Lake).
I don't want to camp along Guadalupe river (near New Braunfels) since there tends to be too many rowdy people (we need a family site). Do you know of any campgrounds around Canyon Lake or somewhere within 20 miles of it? We don't want to drive too far from my in-laws.
Thanks for any help!!

Re: Camping near Canyon Lake

Try Potters Creek Park on the North side of the lake. it has always been nice the many times I have stayed there. may be too late for reservations though. i have stayed at the PRIMITIVE Cranes Mill Park on the South side of the lake and it gets ROWDY during this time of year.

I am tent camping at Bastrop State Park this weekend with my 9 year old son.

Just a heads up!
Canyon Lake will NOT be having their fireworks show this year. They couldn't raise the money for it.

Re: Camping near Canyon Lake

I know this is way too late, but we spent spring break at the yogi bear campground in canyon lake. It was wonderful and I can not wait to go back. This kids had a blast and for the first time since camping, we met nice folk who really loved to camp and didn't stick to their own area!!!
