    books?

Does anyone know of any GOOD introductory books to tent camping and also to backpacking? I have one that I love called "Camping for Dummies" by Michael Hodgson but I would like more than just one book since I'm a book freak! Suggestions?

    Re: books?

For backpacking, try the Colin Fletcher Complete Walker Series. Also Karen Berger has written a book for novice backpackers. Just google the authors or go to Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

BTW if you want to read a funny book about some stumbling, bumbling newbie backpackers on the Appalachian Trail, try "A Walk In The Woods" by Bill Bryson. It will relate how NOT to do things while backpacking.

David its not a book until you make it so, but this looks like a fun place to go, the checklist is well done, have the kids help and get engaged in taking pictures for your "book" as they say just print the pages

    enjoy!
