best sites/what to do at Ray Roberts?

I've got a site reserved for this weekend at Ray Roberts- Isle Du Bois Hawthorne Sites. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation about the best sites in that area and about other fun things to do at Ray Roberts, because we haven't been there before. We're interested in hiking, and we'll have a dog with us. I'd love to hear some suggestions!

I can not recommend any sites as I use an RV. I have been to that park many times and do enjoy it. Some nice trails that wind tru the park for short hikes. There is a trail from there over to Lantana Ridge which would be a good hike of a couple miles The typical opportunities exist at that park. While there you could also check out Johnson Branch on the north side of the lake. We tend to use the park as a base and travel to places/towns around the area.

Swimming, stargazing, fishing, hiking, biking...all can be done at RR. We camped there last November in the Quail Run loop. Nice site overlooking the lake, but breezy. Would make a great summer site, but in November the wind made things a bit chilly at night.

We purchased food and such at the IGA along I-35 in Sanger. As far as I know, it's the closest grocery store.
