Beach Camping

I am looking for a good place to go camping (tent) on the beach in a few weeks.
The ideal place in my head would be somewhere that my Toyota Camery could definitely get to *Direct beach front camping *Vehicles not driving in front of your tent *Clean showers near by *Store/restaurant not too far.

Is there such a place?

Thanks.

Re: Beach Camping

There are lots of those places. Port Aransas for one, and most of the beach all the way to Padre Island. Padre Island would be quieter.

Re: Beach Camping

You won't be camping "on the beach" at Galveston. The campsites are on the grass behind the dunes.

Doesn't Mustang Island have camping on the beach?

Re: Beach Camping

Port A is our choice, you can drive your right to the water if you want. Right now seaweed is a thick on the beach from Port A to Padre Island National Seashore. Port A is the only one who cleans the seaweed away. There is a large stretch of beach that is pilon protected from traffic. Park in at pylons and set up camp on other side for traffic free camping. About 100 yds from pylons to waves. Or drive past the pylons and setup right next to the water, just be mindful of the hightide line, could be a rude awakening in the middle of night.
