Battery powered fans

Are those things any good? How many batteries do they use up and for how long do they last?

Re: Battery powered fans

I have a couple of them that I've never used (still in the boxes). I stocked them for hurricane season and thankfully have never had to used them. It probably says on the box. I'll look later. Oh, I bought them at Wally World.

Re: Battery powered fans

We have one I think we got at Target, it's has about a 12" fan, uses 8 D cells. It also has a ac adaptor too. I like it better than the 2 little camping ones that they have a Walmart. THey use 8 d cells too, has a light and 2 speed fan. THey work OK, but the bigger one pushes more air.

Thumbs up Re: Battery powered fans

I purchased the Ozark Trail "O2 COOL" 10-inch fan at Wally World for @ $14. I loaded it with 8 D-cell batteries (@ $12), and ran it whenever I was in my tent over Memorial Day Weekend. It was a godsend during the heat of the day when I was in the tent changing clothes. At night I would start out on high speed, then eventually turn it to low speed, and by early morning I was cool enough to turn it off altogether. It lasted all weekend long, and still has juice left.

Definitely money well spent for hot weather tent camping. I will, however, be investing in rechargeable D-cells since the standard alkaline batteries cost almost as much as the fan.
