International Migratory Bird Day Celebration

Where? Spring Branch, Texas - Guadalupe River State Park


Celebrate the wonders of our feathered friends during this day-long celebration of birds and the roles they play in the natural world. Bird hikes will take you through the beautiful Honey Creek SNA in search of spring migrants and breeding birds ranging from orioles and hummingbirds to the endangered golden-cheeked warbler. Bird banding demonstrations will give you the opportunity to see birds up close and personal and learn how banding is used to better understand and manage bird populations. Learn how you can help birds through the planting of naturescapes, visit a bluebird trail to learn how nest boxes provide a vital habitat component to these beautiful birds. Children's games and crafts will also be featured throughout the day. 7 a.m.-3 p.m.; a donation of $2 per person or $5 per family is suggested to help support the activities of the Friends of Guadalupe River and Honey Creek, Inc. Join more than 3,500 cyclists this year on May 3-4, 2008 as we take to the Texas roads from Frisco to Fort Worth in the SAM’S CLUB MS 150 Bike Tour. This important weekend will raise more than $2.5 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, giving hope to more than 20,000 Texas families living with multiple sclerosis.

Lake Colorado City Bike Tour

Discover the Lost Pines Nature Hike

Come along on a leisurely hike through the Lost Pines! On this 1-1/2-hour hike you will learn about the history, flora and fauna of the park, the significance of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the endangered Houston toad. Meet at the playground kiosk. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes.

Every Saturday. Looking for something fun and exciting to do with your young ones? Join us as we explore the wonderful world of wildlife. From scales to feathers, amphibians to zebras (zebra long wing butterflies that is) kids ages 5-14 will have a chance to get up close and personal with some of the amazing wildlife that lives at the park. Gorman Falls Tour
