A walk along a dry arroyo in well-developed desert scrub will reveal Say's phoebe, verdin, curve-billed and Crissal thrashers along with a host of other birds. Take the opportunity to explore Chihuahuan Desert bird habitants including grasslands, desert scrub, canyons and riparian woodlands and thickets. Seek Bell's vireo, zone-tailed hawks, vermilion flycatcher and elf owls. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; fees include meals, lodging, guide and transportation $244 Texas State Parks Pass members, $250 non-members;

General Registration for the 2008 BP MS 150 Bike Tour has closed. Registration reached its capacity on Oct. 11, 2007, closing in a record time of less than two weeks.
Online, walk-in, fax, mail and phone registrations can no longer be accepted. Walk-up registrations will not be accepted at any Packet Pick-Up or at the April 11th, 2008 Houston Omni Westside Expo.

Demonstrations and reenactments from the nineteenth century will entertain and educate the public about life before lightswithches graced most homes. These demonstrations may include basket making, blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, bucket making, potterymaking, pioneer toys and games, doing laundry the hard way and many others. Military reenactors may include the volunteer armies of the Republic of Texas, Civil War soldiers, Buffalo Soldiers and cowboy reenactors. Every Saturday. Looking for something fun and exciting to do with your young ones? Join us as we explore the wonderful world of wildlife. From scales to feathers, amphibians to zebras (zebra long wing butterflies that is) kids ages 5-14 will have a chance to get up close and personal with some of the amazing wildlife that lives at the park.
