17th Annual Rocky Raccoon 50K & 25K Trail Runs — Races start at the Raven Lodge at 7 a.m. for the 50K with an eight-hour time limit and 8 a.m. for the 25K with a seven-hour time limit. The 15.5-mile loop consists of jeep roads and dirt trails. Race is limited to 600 entrants. Other non-profits such as Audubon, LCRA's McKinney Roughs, Sierra Club, Friends of the Bastrop State Park and the Lost Pines Garden Club will also participate. Informal lectures and demonstrations include a snake and lizard show, "Call of the Wild" and native plants educational programs. Food vendors will be on hand and local artisans will showcase wildlife arts and crafts. Proceeds to benefit Bastrop Education Foundation and Environmental Stewardship. The "El Camino Real Paddling Trail," the first of 3 paddling trails in Bastrop, is launched at this event. This new six-mile paddling trail begins where the legendary El Camino Real crossed the Lower Colorado River in Bastrop. Paddling events will be held all day long while nature-related activities also fill the park in conjunction with Naturefest.
