Never A Mongoose...

...around when you need one. Dang!

Went out this morning to fire up the grill. Took the cover off and here's a young rattlesnake sitting on the side burner:eek:   ! He tried crawling into the main part of the grill and I had to fire it up to use the heat to drive him out. Had a heck of a time getting him down on the concrete patio so I could send him to his maker. Finally got the head cut off with a hoe. Guess I'm going to have to watch closer. Have had snakes in the yard in the past but this is the first rattler I've come across. You can bet I'll be watching real close the next time I go after firewood !

Happy Camping!

Maybe he was trying to end it all?

He did or I did. Snakes don't bother me a lot but I don't need rattlers around.

Happy Camping!

Tastes like chicken! Whoa, that would scare the *&%^ out of me. I don't care for snakes. Luckily you got the best of him and not the other way around.

Re: Never A Mongoose...

My wife gave a loud scream from the chickencoop the other day.
There was a 5' chicken snake gobbleing eggs up pretty quickly. Ran and got the shovel and hoe. Had him pinned in a box and watched his tail wrap around the shovel to within about 2' of my hands.
Very unpleasent job but he will be joining your snake in "snake heaven".
The worst part was picking him up with the shovel and watching all the egg yolk run out:eek:
