I was sitting really, really quiet Sunday morning about 7am on the back porch. All of a sudden my snuggly little barn cat got really, really still. I followed his gaze. A coyote was sitting at the gate that separates the horses from our back yard. It was so tiny! I have been looking online for what type of coyote this may be, to no avail. It was about 12" tall, maybe 15" long; tiny. But the coloring! It was reddish on the bottom and stark gray along the back and tail. It was like a coat of gray had been laid over the coat of red. Eventually it wandered off. Any ideas what type of coyote this may be? My best guess is a cross-breed of some kind. Have not found anything (yet) on the internet.
(Alas, wish I had a picture, but I was not prepared...)
Kind regards
