Saw a couple of colorful creatures for the first time this weekend. Friday 4-19 I saw a coral snake in Bastrop State Park. I visit the park several times a week, but this was a first. Saturday 4-20 in South Llano River SP I saw a painted bunting. Beautiful bird and another first.

We just got back from a vacation to the Frio River around Garner State Park and we went to an awesome bat flight. A guy named Bain takes you out to some private land that he has permission to enter and you get to see millions of bats fly out of the Frio Cave. It's only about 4 miles outside of Concan and it is worth the $10 per person price tag. Little kids are free and my 3 year old loved it. I put her up on my shoulders and the bats flew so close to us that we could feel the wind. A downside is that every once in a while you feel a drop on your arm or face and we found out that it was bat pee, but oh well!!!!!!!!!! I don't have a phone number or contact, but I bet if you called Neal's Store and Motel in Concan they could get you in contact with Bain.
