Re: Brown Recluse Spiders-(ouch ******)

we found a BR in our austin home several years ago, since then we keep glue boards just about everywhere you can put a glue board and have it be out of site, it is amazing how many spiders and scorpions the things trap, we hardly ever see spiders and scorpions moving around the house but the glue boards tell a different story, we use the small mouse trap boards and place them under and behind furniture along the baseboards, the crawlies seem to follow paths along the edges, we put them in closets and under sink cabinets also

years ago we had some friends whose home was suddenly invested with BR, both suffered multiple bites and the home was exterminated no less than three times and they were still showing up hiding in towels and clothing in closets

sorry to hear about your painful experience, hope your recovery continues to go well

Re: Brown Recluse Spiders-(ouch ******)

As of today ,no new BR's in glue traps I hope were thru with them. recovery is still going good and doc thinks I will be back in Bluejeans in a couple off weeks.I was never the jogging pants kind of guy.You are right crawdude ,the glue traps catch anything that goes in them.Spring cleanning has come early on our block everyone is cleanning out and spraying. Thanks honeask I am feeling better, hope to get to go to Garner this spring and don't want a little spider to spoil that.We have pretty well gone thru everything ,we got to make sure the kids don't run into any BR's.Better safe then sorry.I've heard so many BR stories from friends that I don't know if this is as random as I first thought. We meet some others at the Wound Care Center that had bites and I hope I heel up better then them(bad scares),And campermom I might have to move the tattoo to the side ,doc says I might be a little tender in those spots for a while. Thanks for all the encouragement and wishes.

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry you had to go through that!!
I saw a tv segment out of Fredricksburg about BR right before my in-laws moved to New Braunfels. Boy, that freaked me out! I made sure my in-laws have light colored towels in the bathrooms, check shoes, etc.

The glue traps seem like a good thing to have at the house. Where do you get them from and what do they look like?

You can get the glue traps at most hardware stores-Ace hardware has a couple of them in different sizes,we have been using Pest Controls BR traps, they have a 5 pack for $15.00.I don't know if they are just local or statewide. They are really worth it.I know what you mean Kelly_B I look and shake everything nowadays.Back to the traps, the Pest Control Traps are in a wedge shape, and are child proof.Peel back the film and they are ready to go.The Ace ones are flat, peel and place. They both work and catch and hold them really well.We also have seen BR traps on the web,but we needed them QUICK.So far no more BR's and I hope it stays that way.

Re: Brown Recluse Spiders-(ouch ******)

Really goods news today, the bite on shoulder has almost closed up-healing great- the smaller bite on belt line is also doing great- the larger on belt line is still open, but has close to the size of 50 cent piece and doc said it was doing really good.He said that I might not have to touch it up with plastic surgery-graft.He also took care of a nerve ending that had been hurting. So far so good .They are still the real dark colors but he said they should start lightening up in the next month or so.Again Thanks for Good Wishes.
