Any one interested in attending Wilderness Survival Training in Texas?

Hey motorman,
I'm offering a four day Texas camp just north of Houston this coming March at Camp Strake, a BSA camp near Conroe TX. Ever been there?
You can check it out by visiting my website. Type my web address into your browser. lifesongadventures.com to learn more.
or you can follow this link, Texas Camp, it might be easier. We have had a lot of interest from Texas folks for us to come on out your way and present a wilderness survival program. So we took it seriously and have the camp scheduled for this coming March 19-22 -2009
We get a lot of visitors to our website from Texas. Many are interested in Man vs Wild, and as consultants for two of the early episodes of the show, we agreed that it would be a heck of an adventure coming out to Texas.
I was just reading a great article on Big Bend National Park, and the "Mexican Black Bears" that haunt the rugged high country of the Chisos mountains. The article is by THOMAS KOROSEC of the Star Telegram. Its a great read. Day temperatures in the 70's sound very appealing this time of year compared to the Oregon coast.
Incidentally, if you haven't followed him in awhile, Bear Grylls (Man vs. Wild) crushed his shoulder while kite-skiing (I know, *what?!*) on an unrelated Antarctic expedition. I knew he'd been injured but ouchies, looking at the x-ray (at bottom of page) --> Bear's Blog
Here's his blog regarding the expedition, including his rescue and some info on the purpose of the particular expedition (sponsored by an ethanol fuel company, showcasing alternative, "greener" energy sources. I didn't realize he had a conservationist's heart, what with all the raw critter eating ;-)

PS: According to this article -- Man Vs. Wild's Bear Grylls: Force of Nature : People.com -- "when not in survival mode, he (Grylls) is a vegan." Who'd a thunk it?! Kudos to him for that. I'm a Texan... gotta have my meat!

Hi Shannon, great forum.
yes we saw the photo's of his X ray on Bears blog. Ouch is right! Bear is a vegan or at the very least a vegetarian. His daily breakfast usually consisted of a hot cup of tea, handful of vitamins, some fruit, and a little whole grain cereal. This was after a good long run in the morning. When Bear was on, when working, the man could eat just about anything. I'm sure he has an iron stomach.
An up date on Lifesong Adventures Houston Texas wilderness survival camp in March. We have 9 spots left. Registration ends February 19.
I have rescheduled Texas Survival camp to November 13-15, 2009. I've made it much easier for folks to attend. Maybe will get Shannon to fly down and join us at camp. I understand the weather can be a bit cool in November Houston way, just add another layer and a cup of hot pine needle tea and your all set. We just finished our winter Mini Camp in northern Cal, with temperatures in the low twenty's, wind and snow, and lots of sunshine mixed in. Fresh cougar tracks in the snow at camp and we found a fairly recent lion kill on the ridge above camp. It was a small deer, looked to be a yearling. The cougar used an old Bear bed to eat the deer and when we found it the kill was covered in pine needles with bits of hair and crushed bone. The bones we found we're licked clean of any fat or tissue, lions will do that and enjoy the marrow of the bones as well. Cougars are true Texans, they have to have their meat too.
