Weekend Advice

I was looking to get away this weekend, either for a long hike or an overnight. Pretty new to exploring Texas and live in the San Antonio area. I like to bring my dog and would rather not travel too far (less than 200 miles). I have already done lost maples, enchanted rock, amistad. This forum is always pretty good at giving me some good advice so have at it.

thanks,
doingy

Re: Weekend Advice

Easy! Any of these three should do fine. Each is a bit further then the one before it but all are great! Don't have time for details but wanted to help some. Hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Camping!

Re: Weekend Advice

Nice hiking near SA,...........hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Garner
Lost Maples
Perdernales
South Llano
Enchanted
Bastrop
Hill Country
Inks
Guadalupe River

You can read how many miles of trails each park has on the TPWD site. I listed the local parks in my personal hiking preference order. All of these places are within 2 hour drive. Watch out for the equestrian traffic @ Hill Country. Have fun, try them all.

Re: Weekend Advice

I think you mean Colorado BEND State Park. The "bend" comes from its location on a bend in the Colorado River.

Re: Weekend Advice

What type of long hiking is available at Amistad?

Also.. the Somerville trailway makes a good overnight backpack near Giddings
