South Fork Rio Bonito

Thanks to Toejam . The South Fork Bonito trail was perfect . High was around 75 with a shower both afternoons for only about 10 minutes . Lows maybe in the mid 30s . By the time I got my lazy ### outa bed Sun. morning it was probably around 50 . The trail was moderate and beutifully wooded . After too much partying in El Paso on Sat. night, we were really late starting on Sun. morning. We only made it up about 4 miles ( 1/2 way ) before dark, and had to come straight down for more El Paso partying Mon. night.
Word of advise : Take good sandles. We crossed the creek 12 times. 3 over downed logs , 9 times we had to wade accross in ancle to mid thigh high . The trail at this point is easy enough for me to have hiked out in sandles only .
Thanks again Toejam. Big Bend in winter, Arkansas in fall and spring, and Ruidoso in summer .

Yup, it's a great place. I'm glad to hear about the water - the last couple times I was there the South Fork was a trickle (but still a lot more water than BIBE or GUMO).
