Howdy all,

My son was given a Primus Himilaya (sp?) stove for his birthday on Thursday. It uses canisters of gas and they have a valve that must be punctured to work.

Before we test them out, does anyone know if the gas canisters reseal themselves? I'd assume they do.. but you know what they say about assuming.. I've only had white gas or the big coleman bottles stoves myself.

Let us know what you find out. I was looking at a cool little Primus canister stove at Galyans this weekend. Less than half the price of a similar Snow Peak I've been eyeing.

Yes, the fuel cannister is self sealing, there is a valve at the top that opens and closes as you attach/detach the stove. The cannister is sealed at the factory so that none of the fuel escapes during transit/storage. It is the only way that the fuel can be shipped even as hazardous cargo. Some of the gas will escape as you attach/detach the stove, but not enough to be concerned about.
