Question North Texas area Hiking

Being stuck in the DFW metroplex really limits your hiking opportunities. Love to here some suggestions from those that are familiar with this area about where to do some day hiking.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the Dallas Nature Center trails and I've hiked 14 miles on one of the trails at Grapevine Lake. I've also started a trail or two at Cedar Hill State Park but after dodging more that a few cyclists I'll try those trails again on a less crowded day!

That's about the extent of my DFW area hiking. I know I'm in flatlandsville but somebody out there must have a few suggestions???

Well, you already listed the 3 main places in the area to go. Dallas Nature Center may be the best. You might want to trek west a little bit for Lake Mineral Wells State Park. There is some actual rock climbing there, believe it or not. Also, maybe try "the Heard" in McKinney (very close to Dallas) for some good hiking and other interesting features. Or for a day trip try Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose.

Hey, Jason, pleasure to see you on here!

There are many parks within 200 miles of Dallas/Fort Worth. You mentioned some of the highlights already, but there are a lot of opportunities (Caddo Lake, for one) in your vicinity.
