Re: looking for partner

Yeh Dave, You think I am a computer illetraw Illetr Illiterite A guy that can't use computers?
Sorry for ploddin todd... but Brenda and I will be interested. Should we maybe try the Lone Star Trail? We can shuttle cars? What do you and Brett think?? Could be a change of scenery for Dave and us?
I suspect we should keep a moderate pace for all involved?
Feedback!!!!

Re: looking for partner

Question: are these plans for an overnighter, or just a day hike?

I am fine with the Lone Star this time of year. Actually i think i would really like to check it out. keeping a moderate pace is no problem.

Re: looking for partner

LST is fine. 10 miles or less would be good. Will I need hip waders?

Will need directions to the segment you want to do. Probably not a good weekend for an overnighter. Temps a tad too cool, rain chances a tad too high. what do ya'll think?

Re: looking for partner

wow, we will have a party on the LST!
sisters never lie, that's why i wouldn't bring mine...
rain nor cold bothers me, i have gear for any weather. so i'm fine with it.

just let me know where and when and i'll be there. i look forward to it.

and i figure i'll warn you now... my girlfriend is a little bit older than i am - like 14 years older. don't want anybody to be surprised or uncomfortable about it. i don't really think about it, and i will introduce her to someone as my girlfriend and they get that strange look. it's fine to bring it up or to leave it alone - neither of us even think about it anymore, much less care what people say. we are completely fine with it. but i figured i would at least be up front about it.

Re: looking for partner

Lets see???14 years older than 23??? Damn your both in your prime. Well maybe your a little past it Brett.

We need to pick a section of the Lonestar trail. I have a map and will try to find a loop or something? If anyone has an Idea let me know.
Ploddin Todd, The area you mentioned. Is that a straight out hike? I assume you park at the lot by the state park road and 45 and walk the feeder? I forget what you said and am afraid to back up or I might loose all my hard work. Shall we plan on 10:00?

Re: looking for partner

I know where the parking lot Todd talked about is. My question is when we find the LST marker and head west, head west to where? Do we need a vehicle at the other end?

This is shaping up to be a posse! and copuswalker I will believe every word your sister says. Is she your "liberal" sister?

I'm okay with your picking a section, just don't make it 18 miles, please. Should I go out and get some gore-tex sock liners?

Brett, who you pick for your girlfriend is nobody's business but yours and hers.

10:00 is good for me. Looking forward to slogging in the mud with you guys.

David/wrongturn
Mark has the maps so he can make a suggestion on a possible car shuttle. But what I usually do on day hikes is just walk to a point where I know I can beat nightfall back to the car on my return hike. There's no loop on this section. But the meeting place should be easy for everyone to find (Park Road and I 45 feeder).

Re: looking for partner

10:00 is perfect for me. i'm fine with out and back. doesn't have to be a loop. since i've never been on it, it gives me a chance to observe the flora and fauna in the area and twice as many chances to take some good pictures. i'm somewhat of a nature freak and like to see it as much as possible - and as an aspiring photographer, i hate missing the little things.

i looked up the weather forecast - i guess we can hope that they are wrong as usual. if not, slopping through the mud it is!

i agree with you about my girlfriend choice, dave. but at the same time i am an honest and compassionate person. i typically try to consider the next person, and belive it or not, there are quite a few closed-minded people out there that might find it offensive. ergo, my reason for stating it. but it's good to know that i am among some open minded people - i like you guys already!

Re: looking for partner

Don't believe Dave. Inside he is burning at the thought your girlfriend is 14 years your senior and still younger than he is.
No dave thats my Liberal sister in law. Which is o.k., she just cannot say anything good about the present administration. But we should stay away from politics and religion and keep it on healthy issues like sex and beer.
there are several loops by Richards/Montgomery?
I will look into those.

Re: looking for partner

Perhaps more people would hike with you if you were nicer. The western end is good. It's closer for me. Maybe you could swing by the house when we're done and help me finish painting.

This morning the forecast for Saturday is 50-60% rain depending on who's talking. Mud is fine, going through a rainshower is fine. All day rain is not.

Lemme know what you find at the west end.

Brett, you sound like you go into the woods for the same reason I do: "gives me a chance to observe the flora and fauna in the area and twice as many chances to take some good pictures. i'm somewhat of a nature freak and like to see it as much as possible - and as an aspiring photographer, i hate missing the little things" You can't do this on an express trip.

Re: looking for partner

you guys are pretty funny with your bickering!!

i agree about the all day rain. no matter what kind of gear you have - if it rains all day, you can bet on getting wet. and there's nothing worse than clammy, wet feet on a long trail.

guess we will have to wait and see...

Am I missing something? Call me nasty and then request I help you paint?
You would have to have unlimited beer and hookers to get me painting.

Re: looking for partner

Found the trailhead Todd was talking about. Right at the parking area.
As of now I have a message out to L.S.H.C. to ask their recommendations for a scenic loop or hike. Lets see what happens.
I will be carrying a full pack cause it makes me look tough? O.K. i want the excersize. Plus if I have enough I can stay there.
Lets see what they come back with. The map shows areas but I am not sure of the parking. Lettuce see!
