Question Honey Creek Guided Hike Aug. 2009

How does the water look for this hike? (dry creek might not be fun)
We will be in San Antonio area this Saturday and could easily head this way on our way north?

Any comments on the hike itself? We have never been in this part of the park.

August 2009 — Honey Creek SNA — Guided Hike — Every Saturday. Begin your morning with a guided walk along the trails, led by a member of the Friends of Guadalupe River and Honey Creek, Inc. You'll learn about the cultural and natural history of the area as well as experience the unique beauty of Honey Creek and its surrounding woodlands. 9-11 a.m.; recommended donation of $2 per person or $5 per family supports the work done by the Friends Group for both the state park and natural area. Re: Honey Creek Guided Hike Aug. 2009

Have done it and it is a very nice hike, well worth the time. I would expect it to be pretty dry in the creek and that will detract from the beuty. Very pretty place in the spring when we've had some rain and the creek is up. Heard from a friend who has been to the park of late. He says river levels are very low and the park is suggesting you bring your own water (to drink, not to fill the river). Planning on going there next spring and hoping that the place will have had some rain by then. Hope this helps and,

Happy Camping!

Re: Honey Creek Guided Hike Aug. 2009

{repeated publicly in case others are checking on the park/hike}

I haven't laid eyes on the park in awhile, but with a good rain this past Thursday (I'm only 20 minutes from the park, roughly) and a bit on Friday, it might be perking up a bit. That said, it's been ages since I've taken the Honey Creek hike so I don't know how it has fared over successive years of flood/drought cycles. I suspect it doesn't look too much different from what I remember, but best to call the park HQ. Sorry I'm late and you're probably either at the park or skipped it. Been busy offline.

Thumbs up Re: Honey Creek Guided Hike Aug. 2009

Thanks for the reply's Turn Key and Shannon.

We took the hike the last Saturday in August 2009 and it was a nice pleasant hike. Had a great guide and a nice time. The hike took 2 hours and was not hard or strenous, however, you would not want to hike much past 11 AM on an August day (when we ended) as it was getting warm. Recommend this hike if your there when they have them!

Took a ride through the park about 1/3 full, water was low but you could play in it.
