    hiking/camping with dogs

I am sure there is a thread out there like this already, but I couldn't find one.

But I am just trying to get into backpacking with my dog and am looking for places that are pet friendly. I would prefer near the BCS or the hill county area but I will take any suggestions.

    Thanks!

As far as I know, Lost Maples allows dogs on the trails but they must be leashed at all times.

I would apreciate it if you "pooper scoop" as neccesary! No one likes to step in "it".

A good place to start is the western-most part of the Lone Star Trail, which is not that far from Aggieland (Richards section). Far less restrictions in the national forest than the state parks. But use common sense in regards to handling your dog in the presence of other hikers.

I'm anxiously awaiting the first cool front to arrive in mid to late September.

    Enjoy.
