Lightbulb First Annual Backpacking Group Gathering

I just wanted to extend an invitation to anyone who would be interested in a weekend backpacking trip around Lake Georgetown (The Goodwater Trail). A group of 5 of us met on another forum a year ago and inadvertently started a little Texas backpacking group called SimpleHikersInTexas while out on the Goodwater Trail. It was really more of a joke, but it stuck and we have been organizing weekend, weeklong, multi-weeklong backpacking trips and meeting some really cool people all year long.

If anyone is interested, go to this link and select the Good Water Trail - it gives an awesome aerial view of the trail, btw! The plan is meet at Sawyer Camp. There are three ways to get to Sawyer Camp;
§ Cedar Breaks Park to Sawyer Camp (~6.5 miles)
§ Tejas Camp Ground to Sawyer Camp (~4 miles)
§ Russell Park to Sawyer Camp (~10 miles)

Everyone is just getting out there when they can. Some are arriving on Friday to try and make sure we get the site, I will be among the ones arriving Saturday and hiking in for the night, and there may even be a few day visitors as well. The group is only about 6 or 7 people so far. But if anyone is wanting to get out and meet some fellow backpackers and tell their war stories around a fire, this is a good group of people to meet!! You can't miss us, we'll probably get a little loud!! :cool:

Hope to see some new faces!

Re: First Annual Backpacking Group Gathering

Keep me on the "me too" list for future trips. I'll be in the hospital for my knee surgery on Friday and off trails for awhile after that 'til the knee's ready to bear weight again.
