Re: Big Bend in August? -- need advice

Glad to hear you had a good time.
Always a beautiful spot. I plan on going in Sept. once things settle down here with the colleges etc.

When I told people I was going to Big Bend last August they looked at me like I was nuts?

Big Bend...Ya gotta luv it!

Re: Big Bend in August? -- need advice

I too am going to have to consider the wonderful Big Bend for a summer destination in the future! It sounds like you guys had a great time! It is pretty hard not to enjoy a trip though the Chisos though. Those are absolutely some of the most incredible views I have ever seen! I think it is because it is so unobstructed - you can see so far when standing on the Rim.

I would love to get to see some pictures from your trip - especially all the wildflowers. Even though the Pinacles trail is more interesting, I bet the flora made Laguana Meadows quite spectacular! I need to scan all the pictures I have from BBNP and get them up on my site to share as well. Something I have been putting off for quite some time. I just have so many film pictures from all my trips - it is an intimidating task!!

Thanks for the trip report. I'm glad that the tarptent worked out for you guys.

Re: Big Bend in August? -- need advice

This year's weather may not be "normal" in Big Bend, but it is certainly welcome. Sounds like from the press release below that all of this rain may make for continued great visits into the fall.
