I have hiked it many times. It is a nice loop. Across from the lower camp area is a waterfall (seasonal). It is small but nice. The trial goes along a lot of creeks and is an easy hike for the most part. It eventually comes out to a day use building and scenic overlook. The trail that goes through the park has an area where the creek turns and has made a small cave in the side of the clay hill. Kids love it. Have a great trip.

We are heading to Bastrop State Park on Friday. I looked at the hiking trail map. Is the waterfall you are referring to the one that is labeled "CCC Features and Waterfall"?

Where is the small cave located? My son would love seeing that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Corpuswalker. We had a nice time primitive camping. It would have been perfect except for the sound of automobiles on highway 71. The pine needles were perfect as "thermarest".

Ahh yes, the sounds of cars. Forgot about that. Still it is a nice park. Glad you had fun.
