Backpacking Partners?????

I moved back to Texas after living in Arizona for 8 years. I had some friends that I went backpacking with in AZ. I am hoping to make some new friends here that I can go on trips with. Nothing major just 3-4 friends or so to plan trips with. I live in Lubbock and work as a nurse. I usually get 3-4 days off a week for little short trips. I would take time off work but I plan on getting married in April and my time is saved up for the honeymoon then. Someone who lives in the Lubbock area would be awesome but I am happy just meeting up with friends at a trailhead somewhere. I was thinking about going to either the Guadalupes (where I hiked as a kid), or Big Bend (never been there) sometime in the near future. It is easy for me to meet up in New Mexico as well. If anyone is interested send me an email or add me to your buddy list. I can talk gear and destinations if your bored, lol. Happy trails everyone...........Bret

Re: Backpacking Partners?????

Hi Bret,

Welcome back to Texas and welcome to Wild Texas! Hope you find what you need here. Can't help a lot as backpacking is not for me or DW. I do believe that we do have a few backpackers/hikers here and you will most likely hear from them.

Hope Lubbock work out well for you. DS graduated from Lubbuck Christian University a few years ago so I got to spend some time out there every year. Not a bad city at all with the exception of the West Texas dust.

Again, welcome aboard and hope you enjoy your time here.

Don't forget to check the forums on www.backpacker.com
There's always chatter about trips to our two national parks and New Mexico as well.

I drive through or near Lubbock on the way to most of my New Mexico trips - it would be nice to be 5 hours closer to the Rockies!
