Adventerous Backpacking in Texas

I've been researching alot of places to go for the most wild adventerous backpacking with a group of four.

I am looking to go in the next two weeks. What I am looking for is:

1. A challenging hike which includes scenic views and sightings of wildlife animals

2. A 2 day one night trip.

3. Maybe a fishing river or creek.

Of course that's what alot of people are looking for, but I really want to see wildlife, not just the ordinary enviroment where you see people or the places where you see off the road when you drive.

I was looking at big bend, what do you guys think?

the only place to hike in big bend this time of year that doesn't go above 105 degrees in the afternoon ate the chisos mtns. you'll find wildlife(deer, bears, mountain lions, brids galore, small animals), and the South Rim trail is a GREAT 1 night 2 day hike. however, there won't be any fishing available, unless you are adventerous enough to eat something that came from the rio grande

Agree with 01ACRViper...You would have to stay up in the High Chisos this time of the year to avoid the deathly heat in the desert areas. The High Chisos are very beautiful. The South Rim would be a great hike now. In the cooler months, the Dodson Trail would be a great one to do as well, but don't attempt that during the Summer unless you want to end up a statistic. That is one for the winter and early Spring months only...
