There were quite a few tent campers the two times I have been. I personally LOVE Galveston's state park. I'm a beachy kinda person so if you love the beach, it is great. They keep it very clean. I will say there is no shade since there aren't any trees, so keep that in mind.

We have an awning on our pop up, so that helps.
The campsites are very close to the beach so you can walk right to it. They have boardwalks periodically along the beach to crossover. It's nice that you are so close but you can get away from the sand if you want & you're not bringing too terribly much sand back with you to your campsite.
