Never been there but found this web site Nueces County Parks & Recreation Department

Many scout people from the Plano area travel to stay on the Lexington in Corpus and take 281 rather than I35 down south, its a much easier drive on your nerves and that route gives you the opportunity to stop at state parks along the way up or back. As for the young one

GORP - Family- Driving with Kids

has some good hints, games and reading kept our kids busy (between he touched me moments):thumbsup:
