I just want to put the word out there everywhere I can that it is not safe to leave any valuables of any kind inside your car if you park in the dog park parking lot. The thieves smash in the lock (keyhole) and take whatever they can grab quickly. Park police have said they had been targeting women who go into the park without a purse. There of course is speculation of involvement by construction crew members working to build the 3 soccer fields that will lie between the dog park enclosure and the parking lot. It seems to be organized with lookouts, perhaps within the park. The thieves may even be bringing dogs. It just is not right. I am trying to contact Friends of McAllister Park, the only organization I have found connected to this park. They meet at the nearby police substation. Anyone have any ideas how to organize volunteer patrols? It is a wonderful park, lots of great trails and deer everywhere. For the most part, the dog park is a very enjoyable place as well. Love to hear from anyone else who has been victim to these punks and anyone interested in trying to educate the patrons of McAllister park.
