Re: S.Llano River

We used South Llano as a stop over for the longer trip west. We stayed one night on the way out, swimming all day. Upon returning, the plan was to be 2 nights. We would drive over to Rock Springs for the bat tour. Since we already saw bats at Carlsbad, we dropped that stop. Since we wanted to add Big Bend to the trip, we extended Balmorhea another night, and dropped a night at SLRSP. We arrived after hours so I needed to check in. I originally made plans to go on to McKinney Falls in Austin. There was a mis up with the reservations and now they had no room for Fri and Sat nights. SLRSP was fully booked. At that point I thought I'd be heading home also. Bummer. As I walked out of the office, the other customer, a lady I chatted with while brushing teeth that morning, came out to say she had just dropped her night and asked if I wanted it. Oh yea!
The family we were traveling with decided it was time to return to civilization and X-BOX. We stayed at the site helping them pack up their pop-up. Once they finished, our tent and canopy were up, we went to the river for the rest of the day.
The weather was changing quickly. A ranger drove by and I asked about the forecast. He showed me the doppler in his truck and it wasn't looking to good. I made the call to break camp and return home. We broke more than just our camp. The canopy suffer wind damage during our stay in Balmorhea and was now damaging the truck, which was parked close enough to keep dry from tent to truck. I slammed the back door down to drive it forward to keep it from getting scratched. Something went crunch and bounced off the pavement. Oh, my cell phone, great, the screen is shattered, and has an LCD rainbow covering half of the screen. I was going to call home to warn them we were coming home. Oh well. At least I can go get a phone that can take pictures now. See, it's not a bad thing.
