However, last September my husband and I decided to stay 1 night at Meridian as we were making our way down to the Hill Country for vacation after a bike show in Granbury. It was an awful experience! Not because of the facilities but because of the other campers in our area. The park was full - it was the Saturday of Labor Day weekend so many families had decided to camp. Normally we get along fine with neighboring campers but this time that was not the case. It seems that every adult had decided to cloister themselves in a camper or tent and let their kids and animals run wild. We had a dog come up and hike his leg on the corner of our tent, kids were running and screaming through our campsite - and this was well after 9 pm. We even had kids ( unsupervised - under 10 years old) walking around shining a flashlight in our tent while we were trying to sleep. Luckily we left early the next morning to get to Inks Lake for a canoe skills class so we didn't have to endure unruly kids for too long.

I say all of this to remind parents how important it is to teach your kids - early on - about camping etiquete and how to respect the other campers.
