Thanks for the "call to the keyboard", copuswalker! Yes, it can feel mighty lonely in here at times, but it's not for a lack of interest in Texas if my site's logfiles are any indication. I agree that word of mouth about parks is always "fresher" and more relevant than something sitting in a dusty guidebook on the shelf. For one thing, parks and conditions change over time -- the secluded oasis of 5-10 years ago can become the "best avoided except on weekdays" park of the present, as you no doubt have experienced during your tenure as a Texas hiker.
