Re: S.Llano River

Welcome aboard and I hope we can help. South Llano is a great park and well worth a day trip. We've been there twice for 8-days at a clip and I loved both trips. Want to go back really bad. Park tends to draw an older crowd in the camping area during the mid-spring time. Stays quiet and peaceful. Things get a bit noisier with the kiddos down by the river, particularly on the weekends. Great place to go swimming and wading.

Park draws a good many "birders" and there were 2 outstanding blinds the last time I was there with plans for a third. Turkey come into the camping area in the mornings and evenings to feed along with deer on the perimeter. Also, the park hosts always have a couple of humming bird feeders up. Hummers are so prolific and near-tame, you can walk right up to the feeders if you do it slowly. And when I say hummers, I mean hummers! Have been there in the evening when there were more then 100 hummers flitting around the feeders. Don't know if he/she is still hanging around but watch for the big white rabbit that roamed the park at one time (no, I'm not in Wonderland:laugh.

Again, welcome aboard and I hope you have a great trip.

Happy Camping!
