I tried this trail in early May. It is not an easy trail to say the least. I was planning out going out and back. I completed most of it; catching a ride out rather then hiking the last 6 miles back. Part of the problem was the tremendous humidity the week I hiked. March is probably the lasted one should try this one. But the real problem is that the trail just does not get much use and thus it feels more like you are hiking cross county rather then along a trail. Their is a lot of fallen trees and several bridges that are washed out making it necessary to cross streams at numerous points.
