Lake Sommerville Hike
Went for an overnight trip to Lake Sommerville State park(s). Hiked the trailway betwenn Nails Creek and Birch Creek parks.
The trail is hiked, equestrian and mountain bike accessible. Was a little warm on Saturday (Oct. 25th) and made the open trail a little warm. Shade shelters are abundant so breaks are not a problem. The trail runs approx. 13 miles and has a few loops and additional trails at the two parks. I have been through the week (return trip) and this time was a weekend (had two others) and would prefer the weekdays. Saw 6 horses and 5 mountain bikers.
Feel free to ask ?'s about the parks. Will do my best to answer.
There are primitive sites and pit toilets on the trail also!
