Welcome aboard and hope we can help. Don't camp at the coast as the Texas coast is just something we don't care for. If your interested in non-coast camping, I would suggest either Kerrville-Schreiner Park (city owned, just west of you off I-10) or Guadalupe River State Park (about 40 miles north of you and a bit west of Hwy 281). Both are great parks. I have 2 reviews of GRSP posted on this site and will have a review of Kerrville-Schreiner Park up in the next few days.
There are many great parks in the Texas Hill Country and the ones mentioned are just two of the best. Hope you get a chance to enjoy them all. Let me know if I can be of any help. Again, welcome aboard and,
