Bad time to limit Calaveras lake

Went Friday to Calaveras park to get in a few hours of fishing. Much to my surprise, I found that they had closed the road leading to the north portion of the lake due to inclement weather. It seemed that the authorities jumped the gun on that decision. I encountered numerous fishermen who were not happy with the decision to close that part of the lake especially on Memorial Day weekend. I understand the thinking behind the decision, flash flooding and all the dangers that could be possible...but, wouldn't it have been easier to allow those who wanted to take the chance go ahead and go to that part of the park with a warning of the possible dangers and the possibility of expulsion should weather be threatening? Maybe a sign in log, should a party intend on entering that part of the lake? There have been many times where the forecast called for a high percent chance of rain and not a drop fall, and vice versa. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe in anybody taking risks just to have a good time, but most are adults and should be responsible enough to realize the dangers during those possible weather conditions. Just my opinion.....
