Re: Camping along the Rio Frio

JD, getting a site may be a problem. Most of the campgrounds book months in advance. You may try Garner State Park. Try to get in new garner at persimmon hill. I believe the sites have water only. Persimmon Hill is very shaded and most of the sites are fairly far apart. Rio Frio in new garner has water only in the lower areas close to the water. The only drawback is the spots are mostly open, with scattered cedar trees for shade. Check out the parks and wildlife website for a map of the park. The park is dog friendly and playing in the water is tolerated. Good luck and happy camping!!
