Re: Is 40's degree too cold for 3yrs old?

We've done some cold weather camping. There are a few things you can do to help from feeling cold while sleeping.

Get your body temp up before getting in the sleeping bag. A hot shower, light exercise, or a high energy snack should help. The bag will maintain the heat you put into it, not the other way around. FFRIO is right, Hand warmers are nice and the kids think they are fun. Getting up off the ground is important. You could be a total cheater and bring an electric blanket ( if you've got an electric site). Stay hydrated, just enough for the body to do it's thing, but not to much, cold kiddos can't help but pee the bed. You can put the next days outfit in the sleeping bag to get it warmed up. Makes getting dressed in the morning easier ( especially the undergarments!).
TurnKey is right, those kids will be tuckered out. Just past sundown is a good time to go to bed.

Have a good time.
