The Brazos is also very pleasant from Whitney Dam to Waco, though it gets a little sluggish approaching Waco (go figure...hehe). Most of the way should usually have a good current, with a few mild rapids, but it's probably low due to the drought. We did that stretch when I was a kid in Boy Scouts. For probably 25 miles or so below Whitney Dam the water was nice and clear, with springs here and there along the way. Even where it was deep you could see pebbles on the bottom. Of course this was about 30 years ago:rolleyes: . Hopefully it's still nice.
