Forgot to mention this...but there are petroglyphs on the rock formations known as the Chimneys. You can hike to the Chimneys from Ross Maxwell Drive. The trailhead is clearly marked and there is a parking area to pull off the road. The trail is fairly well marked, but you do need to keep your eyes out for the rock cairns. The Chimneys can be seen from the trailhead (with Kit Mountain off to your left) which makes it a deceiving hike. You think it is a really short one...but it is 2.4 miles to the Chimneys. This hike is best done in the cooler months, as you are in the desert. But, even at this time of the year or in December, bring plenty of water. You cannot hydrate enough out there. The hike is a good one.

Also, when you get to the park, check with the rangers at Panther Junction. They can also point you to the locations of rock art (plus share other items with you on the park).
