Re: Discuss: Brazos Bend State Park

We don't live too far from Brazos Bend and have camped there many times. I've found that sometimes ReserveAmerica shows the park as booked but when I call the TX Parks reservation number they've got sites. Also, try calling back to the TX Parks because there are a lot of cancellations.

If you can't get a reservation at Brazos Bend, try Lake Texana which is about an hour to the south. There's gators there (a little more shy than those at Brazos Bend), plenty of deer and racoons who aren't very shy, the park ranger puts on a nice arts/crafts session and wildlife presentation, nice trails, good fishing. Plus, there's a little more to do outside Lake Texana in the towns of Edna and Ganado than there is at Brazos Bend.

Happy camping
