I wouldn't just take the baby if I knew for sure that it was orphaned. And I waited a long time to see if the parents were tending to it. What I think happened was my dog, he is an energetic boxer, thought they were trying to play with him or he was trying to play with them, and they flew away. I waited 1 & 1/2 days before I took in the baby bird. But I have had these experiences more than once before, I guess around 6, and only 1 died while I was caring for it, it was a bald pinky, fresh from the egg. And one other died 2 days after I released it. It was the first one I had taken care of. I didn't know a whole lot about weaning back then lol. Well, anyway, so it will just take a bath on it's own?
