Re: Why no gathering wood in State Parks?
Many parks cut wood which has already fallen, and needs to be cleared. But cutting only some of the wood, they leave habitat ( they know where the animals live ) intact for the wildlife. The firewood is sold to campers in the park, and the profit stays in the park. With budget cuts the way they are, you can't blame them for doing it this way, it makes sense. So, don't feel like you're getting ripped off when you buy wood or other things from the parks. It's one less things to pack, and a portion of the profit stays to support the very park you enjoy. Think of it as a school fundraiser, do you really think a candy bar is worth $5?
